So, when I first started this blog I wasn't exctly sure what kinds of things I would talk about, which I guess is kind of why I don't post regularly. I guess I just don't think enough happens on a daily, or weekly, basis for me to say. And then time goes on and all of the sudden my life has changed incredibly.
Ok...where to start...Brent is now working for Brea Towing, he enjoys it, but finances are still a mess. He metnioned wanted to go to school to be an airplane mechanic in Colorado. I'm totally on board with this, I'm glad he has this goal, and it would enable him to see his family more. On the other had, it would mean moving to CO, which might take me some time to get used to, but I think I could do it. However, I told Brent that I wouldn't move to Colorado unless we were married, simply because we would have to have a California wedding and it's simply too difficult to plan a wedding in CA from CO.
As far as my job goes...still at Jo-Ann's, but things are looking a little up for the next school year. My aunt said that about 80 teachers are retiring in her district with only about 20ish people to fill their spots....aaaaaaand, her principal mentioned that she wants to hire new teachers...so there is a silver lining.
So, now for the drama...
2009 was possibly the worst year of my life. It all started when I got a job....and then basically didn't, I ended up being able to long term sub for another teacher resulting in great connections with this principal. Then, in February, Brent broke his arm and was subsequesntly laid off from his job. Later in the year, my dog died. Daisy was the sweetest, most loving dog, and we really had no indication of her leaving us, it was really upsetting.

A few months later, in August, a week before my birthday actually, we got a call...my Grandpa(Dad's dad) had passed away. This too, was a real shock. So, the four of us, my mom, dad, sis, and I, hopped on a plane a flew to VA for the services. It was amazing to see all of my family together (I don't think I ever really have on that side) and witness such an awesome service. See, my Grandpa was in the Army for 28 years and was a retired Colonel, therefore, he had FULL military honors, bugeler, 21 gun salute and all. I miss him so much, although he lived so far away, it's still painful.
And then the news that rocked the world...well ours at least. In early December, my Dad and Mom announced they were getting a divorce, and that New Years Eve, my Dad moved out. This threw a whole wind of emotions in my face. I had already been slipping into a bereavment depression over my Grandpa, and this kind of pushed me over the edge. After 29 years....just leaving, with no REAL reason?!?! And now, we rarely see him and he's a total jerk. It's weird when one of the people you looked up to most throughout your life changes, and you don't really recognize them anymore. I miss my dad...and even when we do see him...it's not the same, he's not the same....
So, that's my life in a nutshell...I think I pretty much covered everything....
O...on the up side....in 2009, Brent and I went to Vegas (Brent's 1st time), we saw Metallica (for the 3rd time) and we had a niece born, Mckenzi Mae Holmes! Although we don't see her much, her facebook pictures keep us filled in, she's such a pretty baby!
